It was none other than Robert Schumann who recognised the brilliance of Brahms, twenty years old at the time. He personally paved the way for Brahms’ musical future by becoming his mentor. Johannes Brahms completed his first symphony in 1876, which marked the beginning of a unique musical legacy.
