Description
Graf von Faber Castell Pen of the Year 2019 - Samurai features fascinating elements inspired by Japanese warriors. The dark body, made of stained and varnished magnolia wood, is hand-engraved with Japanese characters, covered with a layer of 24 carat gold.
The engraving means "Today I overcome myself yesterday". It is a quote from the Book of the Five Circles of the great samurai warrior Miyamoto Musashi. At the top of the cap you will find the symbol of the word "tsuba" (guard of the hand) created by Musashi. The tsuba is an oval plate that protects the samurai's hand from slipping onto the blade of the sword. The hilt of the sword was decorated with the skin of a ray fish and it was reproduced on the front part of the feather.
The cap, the front part of the pen and the 18 carat nib are covered with a layer of ruthenium.
